Classic Scottish Scrambles 2013
Introduction to Mountain Navigation
Guided Walking Days and Holidays
There are 4 mountains in the Lake District that are over 3000 feet. They are Skiddaw, Helvellyn, Scafell, and the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike.
Join Ascents of Adventure on a 2 or 3 day walking holiday that will walk up all 4 of these hills. We start with Skiddaw on day 1. The next day we tackle Helvellyn via the Grade 1 scramble of Striding Edge, where a bit of a head for heights is required and where hands as well as feet will be used for some sections. We then descend Swirral Edge to finish a memorable day. On day 3 we finish the trip with an ascent of Scafell and the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike. The way between the Scafells is steep and rocky but a sneaky route up via foxes tarn gives a small amount of hands on scrambling to link these two summits.
If you've never been on a walking holiday before this could be the ideal introduction. I have also used this trip as a practice run for the 3 Peaks Challenge.
Don't panic if you haven't got loads of kit. You will need a pair of well fitting and broken in hill walking boots. If you haven't got waterproofs or warm outdoor clothing just let me know and I may be able to help. You'll also need a few other items like a hat and gloves, lunch and a drink for each day and a little rucksack to carry it all in.
And continuing in 2013 - bring the kiddies along for free. If you can tear them away from the Playstation bring the kiddies along for free (up to 16 years old). Kiddies of 16 to 18 charged at £30.
Available every weekend.
What's included
For 2013 I will also be running 2 day trips for the Lakeland 3000s for those that might not have the luxury of a 3 day weekend. It will mean dashing betwixt Skiddaw and Helvellyn on the same day and may not involve the ascent of Striding Edge. Cost £90 per person. Available every weekend.
