Introduction to Mountain Navigation
Guided Walking Days and Holidays
The National 3 Peaks challenge is one of the iconic walking challenges in the UK. The challenge involves walking up (and down!) the 3 highest summits in Scotland, England and Wales, namely Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa (sometimes called Snowdon). Traditionally this challenge attempts to do this in 24 hours.
The 3 Peaks Challenge is not one to be underestimated. Whilst, strictly, no previous hill walking experience is required a good level of fitness is necessary as well as the bloody mindedness to keep going when sleep deprived, tired and hungry. Don't let this put you off though! With the right preparation Ascents of Adventure can help you to achieve this magnificent outing in the British hills
I only take small groups on this challenge - certainly no more than 10. This has less impact on the hill as well as on local residents where disturbance at night can cause upset with huge groups descending on these areas.
I can provide advice on training for the 3 Peaks Challenge, kit required and nutritional advice for the weekend.
But don't delay, if you're thinking of having a go at this challenge in 2012 don't leave it too late. You'll need to do a bit of training to give yourself the best chance of completing the 3 Peaks.
Packages for the 3 Peaks Challenge include accommodation on Friday night (bunkhouse or Youth Hostel), all guiding on the hill, hot drinks at finish of each summit and all travel between summits. Separate drivers will be provided - drivers will not be walking up the mountains, they will be sleeping!
Ascents of Adventure will also help as much as we can with transport to Scotland and back from North Wales to make your travelling to and from these venues as easy as possible. Please ask about this.
I will do my utmost to help you to achieve this challenge in 24 hours. However, client safety is paramount. We will always walk at the pace of the slowest and will not break the law whilst driving to make up extra time.
